CDK Systems

In 1982, CDK Systems, Inc. developed software to meet New Jersey state accounting requirements for a local school district. This was before DOS, before IBM PCs, before NJ GAAP accounting. Word spread, and soon we were serving other districts. CDK's low cost and ease of use made it a favorite of smaller districts.

When the mid-80's brought the PC to prominence, CDK converted to PC/DOS. In 1993 we updated to meet the new NJ GAAP requirement. New Jersey school business administrators soon learned that they could count on CDK to keep abreast of changing state accounting procedures. As a result our customer base continued to grow, with word of mouth advertising alone, thanks also to our reputation for superior customer support.

Then in 1998 we unveiled CDK for Windows, a completely new version of CDK for today's school business office. Custom written exclusively for New Jersey schools, CDK for Windows is an effective solution for NJ accounting requirements. With multi-user networking capability, CDK can now meet the needs of districts of any size.

CDK added its first Budget Prep software in time for the 2001-02 budget preparation season. This new product streamlined the budget development process, and allowed users to export their budgets to both the CDK for Windows program and the state's budget software, saving hours of data entry time.

In 2002, CDK introduced our new Personnel Management System in a number of pilot districts. Working closely with these districts has enabled CDK to custom-tailor our new software to meet the needs of the users. CDK Personnel is now being used in a growing number of districts and is available to all. We look forward to enhancing the efficiency of HR recordkeeping across New Jersey.

In 2006, CDK released our Requisitioning Module featuring tailorable electronic routing and approvals, and fully integrated with CDK for Windows.

CDK's newest offering is our Student System. Our Student System handles Student Demographic information, class schedules, attendance, free and reduced lunch recordkeeping, grades, special services data and much more (including all NJ SMART SID Management and Data Submision data file exports).
